With temperatures below freezing and ice in the forecast, pet owners are reminded to take extra care of their animals. Amber Talbot, director of PAWS and More animal shelter, says to make sure outdoor dog houses are well insulated. Also, take care of your pet’s paws by using animal safe ice melt on sidewalks and driveways and then clear their paw pads of an ice or snow. Talbot also says to sure pets aren’t left in cars in cold temperatures.

In 2015, PAWS and More accepted over 650 animals and 85% of those were adopted out, including 145 cats at the Marion and Coralville Petco locations. For photos of animals (including those above) looking for their forever homes click here.
