Mid-Prairie senior Cameron Tolander had a big day on Saturday.

Tolander, a member of the Golden Hawk wrestling team, won the individual championship in the 182lb weight class, helping the Golden Hawks to the team championship at the WACO Warrior Invitational. Along the way Tolander picked up his 100th career win in the semifinals. The icing on the cake is that all of these events occurred on his 18th birthday.

Tolander’s march to 100 began on November 27th, 2012 in a dual against English Valleys. Tolander knocked off Brennen Grimm of EV in a wild 11-10 match. Tolander’s 50th win came midway through his junior year on December 20th of 2014 when he pinned Brad Felske of Wilton in 3:50 in the semifinals of the North Linn Invitational. Tolander was a state qualifier in his junior season. His 100th was a win in the semifinals of the WACO Warrior Invitational Saturday, as he pinned Alfredo DeLaCruz in one minute to earn the victory.

Cameron Tolander is the seventh Golden Hawk wrestler to join the 100 win club at Mid-Prairie. He is the second Golden Hawk to reach the plateau this year with teammate Duncan McCain doing so earlier this month. Tolander joins Golden Hawk greats McCain, Phirom Peterschmidt, Micah Casper, Heath Ropp, Josh Murphy and Adam Greiner in the illustrious club. The all-time wins record at Mid-Prairie is 148 victories, held by Phirom Peterschmidt, who wrestled for the Hawks from 2010 to 2014.
