The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball team ran into a buzz saw Friday night, falling to the No. 4 ranked Cascade Cougars 63-24 in Wellman.

The Cougars started the game on a 16-2 run. Cascade would outscore Mid-Prairie 25-6 in the first quarter. The second quarter was more of the same as the Hawks struggled to get anything going offensively against the Cougars 2-3 zone. Cascade went on an 18-2 run that lasted the entire second quarter, holding a 43-8 lead at the halftime break. With the continuous clock enacted for the entire second half Mid-Prairie was unable to make a push to cut into the Cougar lead.

The Golden Hawks were led on the night by Noah Altenhofen with nine points. With the loss Mid-Prairie falls to 1-17 on the year. The Hawks will next be in action Monday night against Clear Creek Amana.
