Home field advantage helped the Washington Demon archery teams record high marks recently. The Washington High School, middle school, and Lincoln elementary school teams competed against a handful of archers from four high schools, two middle schools, and four elementary schools.

The Demon high schoolers recorded a team score of 3,195 with 125 bullseyes. Senior Jade Wells had her best shoot of the season last Sunday, posting a 287 out of a possible 300 points. Her 22 bullseyes are 12 more than anyone else on the high school squad. Freshman Ben Baughman posted a score of 270, the highest high school boys’ mark.

The middle school team collectively scored 3,085 points with 88 bullseyes. Eight grader Emily Waite bested the 27 person middle school girls division, posting a 275 with 10 bullseyes. Sixth grader Lane Frana had the top middle school boys’ score, marking a 267 with nine bullseyes.

The Lincoln Elementary crew came away with 2,843 points and 49 bullseyes. Fifth graders Allison Rees and Curtis Stender represented the Demons a top their respective age groups. Rees finished the day with a score of 262 and 10 bullseyes. She bested the 10 person elementary girls field. Stender’s score of 259 was the best of the 35 person elementary boys’ field.

The Washington archers are back on the road this Saturday, competing in the Springville shoot. First flights are set for 10 a.m. at Springville High School.
