The final regular season tune up for the Washington Demon girls’ basketball team (9-10 overall) takes place tonight in Mount Pleasant. The Southeast Conference season concludes for both squads as Washington drives to Henry County for the renewal of the rivalry with the Panthers (6-14 overall).

Washington looks to bounce back after a 52-30 loss Tuesday night against the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks (13-8 overall). Washington scored 15 points in each half. The Demons were led in scoring by senior Brynna DeLong with 10 points. Washington has won three of the last five games.

Mount Pleasant is searching to end the regular season on a positive note as well, dropping their previous two games by 20 or more points. Three Panthers have scored over 165 points this season, including senior D’Jannay Patterson (171), Kalynn Batey (168), and junior Sarah Moffett (166). Moffett leads the Panthers with 124 rebounds, 35 more than the rest of the team. Washington won the previous game between the schools, 44-35, on January 8 in Washington.

The Demon boys’ basketball team (7-12 overall) is staying in Washington tonight, hosting the Panthers (14-5 overall). The Panthers have already clinched the Southeast Conference championship, improving their win total by seven games heading into the conference finale. Tonight’s game features a battle of the top two scorers in the league. Washington senior Derek Anding has scored 353 points this season, while Mount Pleasant sophomore Brady Sartorius has poured in 292 points.
