Southeast Conference competition resumes tonight for the Washington Demon basketball teams. The Demons are set to travel to Fort Madison for their final league doubleheader versus the Bloodhounds.

The Washington girls’ basketball team (7-9 overall) returns to the hardwood after a week layoff. The Demons were suppose to play a non-conference game against the Davis County Mustangs in Bloomfield Tuesday, but winter weather caused its cancellation.

Washington lost their latest conference battle to the No.4 Keokuk Chiefs (16-1 overall), 51-34, last Friday in Keokuk. Washington kept the margin within two possession through the first three quarters of the game before the Chiefs outscored the Demons 22-9 in the final quarter. Two Washington players are averaging over nine points a contest this year, including senior Addie Pacha (9.6) and sophomore Sarah Nacos (9.1). Pacha’s 113 rebounds also tops the team. The Demons won the first meeting against Fort Madison, 47-34, January 5 in Washington.

The Demon boys’ basketball team (5-11 overall) lost their latest contest, 79-50, to the Keokuk Chiefs at Wright Fieldhouse last Friday. Senior Derek Anding posted a team-best 26 points. He is averaging 18.6 points per game, ranking him second in the Southeast Conference in scoring. The Bloodhounds edged the Demons in the first matchup, 57-54, on January 5. Sophomore Jack Redlinger posted a game-high 13 points in the first meeting against Fort Madison.
