Influenza is widespread in Iowa at this time. According to the Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network, eight influenza-related hospitalizations were reported last week in the state and the influenza rapid test positive was 10.7%. Lynn Fisher with Washington County Public Health shares you can still get your annual vaccine to prevent getting the flu now. Also, practice good hand hygiene and stay home when you’re ill to prevent the spread of the virus. Fisher adds the flu has been confirmed in Washington County and February is usually the peak of the flu season.
