The No. 14 in Class 3A Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team travels to Donnellson tonight to take on Central Lee in the regional semifinals.

Mid-Prairie was a big winner Saturday in the regional quarterfinals taking out the Albia Lady Dees 69-23. The Golden Hawk defense was dominant in the game, forcing 44 turnovers in the rout. Addison Rath led the way offensively with 17 points. Mid-Prairie enters tonight’s game with a 14-8 overall record. The Golden Hawks were 11-7 in the River Valley, taking fourth place in the south division. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Ali Butters at 12 points per game, seventh best in the RVC, Addison Rath holds the team lead with 112 rebounds for the year while Alex Rath has the team assist lead with 60, fourth best in conference play.

Central Lee enters tonight’s game with an overall record of 18-4. The Hawks finished second in the Southeast Iowa Superconference south division with a 12-2 mark in league play. In their last game Central Lee opened the playoffs by dominating Davis County 67-26. Britany Mathison and McKenzie Krehbiel each had 14 points. On the season the Hawks are led by MacKenzie Northup and her 15 points per game, second best in the SEISC south. Josey Kirchner leads Central Lee with 73 assists fourth best in the conference. Britany Mathison is the leading rebounder on the team, in the conference and fourth best in all of 3A with her total of 224. Central Lee also boasts the state’s fourth highest scoring offense at 65 points per game and have lost just one time in their own gym, sporting a 10-1 mark at home.

The winner of this game advances to the regional final Saturday night in Oskaloosa.
