The Mid-Prairie boys basketball team opens up district play tonight with a trip to Iowa City Regina to battle the Wilton Beavers.

Mid-Prairie enters tonight’s game with a 1-20 overall record. In their last game Mid-Prairie lost to rival Washington on the road 66-53. Caleb Statler had 16 points to lead the Golden Hawks. On the year Mid-Prairie is led by Nolan Faselt at 10 points per game. Faselt also holds the team lead with 62 assists, eighth best in the River Valley South. Caleb Statler leads the Hawks with 107 rebounds, ninth in the conference.

Wilton enters tonight’s game with an overall record of 14-8. The Beavers finished with a 10-8 mark in league play. Last game they were beaten by Iowa City Regina 58-47. Javin Drake and Jon Hennessee each had 16 for the Beavers. On the year Wilton is led by Drake and his 19 points per game, best in the RVC south, Drake also holds the team lead with 157 rebounds second best in league action . Zach Randolph leads Wilton with 79 assists fifth best in the conference.

These two teams met twice during the regular season, Wilton took both matchups, the first in Wellman by a 69-44 score, the second in Wilton was a 50-47 Beaver win.
