The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk girls basketball team celebrated Senior Night Friday with a win over visiting Cascade 48-37.

Mid-Prairie started the game on a 9-0 and outscored the Cougars 17-6 in the first quarter. The Golden Hawks would lead by as many as 13 in the first half and hold a 24-13 lead at the halftime break. In the third quarter Cascade climbed back in the game, forcing seven Mid-Prairie turnovers in the frame and cutting the Golden Hawk lead to just four points. The Golden Hawks were able to withstand the storm and build the lead back to nine going to the fourth quarter. Cascade never threatened down the stretch as Mid-Prairie used defense and free throws to seal the win.

In the win Mid-Prairie was led by Ireland Hostetler and her game high 16 points. Alex Rath had 11. Mid-Prairie honored three seniors; Emily Cayton, Alex Rath and Allyson Wertz in a postgame ceremony. With the win Mid-Prairie improves to 11-8 on the year. The Golden Hawks will next be in action Tuesday when they travel to Washington to take on the Demons.
