The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams return home Tuesday for a River Valley Conference doubleheader with the West Liberty Comets.

The No. 15 ranked in class 3A Mid-Prairie girls enter tonight’s game at 9-8 on the year. They were beaten by No. 15 in class 2A Durant on Saturday in Wellman 45-41. Addison Rath led the way for the Hawks with 15 points. On the season Mid-Prairie is led by Ali Butters at 13 points per game, sixth best in the River Valley Conference, Addison Rath paces the Golden Hawks with 82 rebounds on the season. Emily Cayton leads Mid-Prairie with 43 assists, eighth in conference play.

The West Liberty girls come into tonight with a 5-13 overall record. In their last game the Comets were beaten by Cascade 70-47. Hailey Daufeldt led the team with 15 points. On the year Daufeldt leads the Comets in scoring and is eighth in the conference at 12 points per game. Daufeldt also paces West Liberty and is fourth in the conference with her 128 rebounds. Macy Akers holds the team lead with 35 assists. These two teams met on December 18th, a game Mid-Prairie won 52-30. Addison Rath had 18 points in the first meeting, Ireland Hostetler 16 and Ali Butters 12 points.

The Mid-Prairie boys enter play tonight with a 1-16 overall record. The Hawks are fresh off of their first win of the season downing Durant on Saturday in overtime 55-50 in Wellman. Nolan Faselt led the Golden Hawks with 17 points, Ben Stone added 11. On the year Nolan Faselt and Caleb Statler are tied for the team lead at 10 points per game. Faselt paces the Golden Hawks with 47 assists while Statler leads Mid-Prairie with 79 rebounds.

West Liberty comes into tonight’s game with an overall record of 6-10. The Comets fell to Iowa City Regina 66-55 in their last contest. Brady Smith led West Liberty with 19 points. Smith leads the Comets on the year at 15 points per game, fifth best in the River Valley Conference. Smith also holds the team lead and is second in the conference with 112 rebounds. Noah Feldman leads the Comets and is fourth in the conference with 60 assists. These two teams met on December 18th in West Liberty in a wild game that saw Noah Feldman bank in a three point shot at the buzzer to beat Mid-Prairie 41-40. Nolan Faselt led Mid-Prairie in that game with 12 points. Action between the Golden Hawks and the Comets begins tonight at six at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.
