The Iowa Mennonite School boys basketball team battled illness and injury during the 2015-16 season.

IMS ended the year with an overall record of 12-11, Iowa Mennonite was 9-7 in the Southeast Iowa Superconference North, finishing in a tie for fourth with Wapello and Winfield-Mt. Union. IMS started the season 5-0, that five game stretch was their longest winning streak of the season. IMS didn’t lead the Superconference in any specific offensive category, but they were in the top three in three point shooting and assists. Defensively, IMS gave up 52 points per game and finished with 35 blocked shots and 203 steals.

Individually, IMS was led by senior Eli Gingerich. Gingerich led the team with 18 points per game, second in the Southeast Iowa Superconference, 144 assists, second in the superconference, 77 steals, second in the conference, 14 blocked shots, 10th in the superconference, and tied for the team lead with Drake Brezina, each with 104 rebounds.

Iowa Mennonite graduates three seniors from this year’s team, Eli Gingerich, Jakob Schmidt and Jacob Schmieder. IMS ended their season on February 18th in the first round of districts, falling at Lone Tree 50-43.
