The Iowa Mennonite School girls basketball team has been waiting a long time, but they were rewarded Tuesday night at Hillcrest Union, recording their first win of the season over visiting Winfield-Mt. Union 45-42 on Senior Night.

In a game heard on KCII, defense dominated the first quarter with WMU holding a slim 10-8 lead after the first quarter. IMS got hot from the floor in the second quarter outscoring the Wolves 11-4 to take a 19-14 lead into the half. In the third quarter, Lexee Hartsock, who had been dealing with foul trouble much of the first half, came alive for the Wolves, scoring 10 points in the frame to help Winfield-Mt. Union make a push and tie the game on two separate occasions in the second half. Down the stretch IMS hit clutch shots, free throws and controlled the glass to claim the win.

IMS was led on the night by Freshman Suzanna Yoder with a game high 18 points. The Wolves were led by 10 points each from Hartsock, Pearl Krieger-Coble and Lauren Jamison. With the win IMS is now 1-16 on the year, WMU falls to 4-16.
