Residents of Kalona will go to the polls one week from today to determine whether or not $3.9 million in bonds will be issued for a new community center. The project would add about 18,000 square feet of space to the current center and will include a full size basketball court, a walking and running track and several rooms for community events. The city will hold an open house session on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon at the community center to answer questions from citizens about the proposed new community center. Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. on March 1st at the Kalona Community Center. For the bond to pass, 60% of voters must say yes on the ballot. Listen to KCII that evening for live results from the Washington County Courthouse.
