The Keota School Board met in special session this week to examine their search for a new superintendent. They’re looking to share a superintendent with another district as well as their teacher sharing agreements with Mid-Prairie. Billie Kindred, President of the Keota School Board say the search is narrowing with the leading contenders being Tri-County and Belle Plain. Keota plans on meeting with both administrators in the coming weeks.

The board is also negotiating to continue sharing some staff with Mid-Prairie. The current agreement calls for Keota to share one teacher and for Mid-Prairie to share six teachers. Kindred says the staff sharing makes sense with the rural districts declining enrollment. Keota currently has 345 students enrolled in the school district.
