The season continues for another 48 hours for the Lone Tree Lion boys’ basketball team (18-5 overall). The Lions hosted the Class 1A District 8 semifinal tournament game against the New London Tigers (12-10 overall). Lone Tree survived 17 lead changes and 12 ties, defeating New London 70-61.

Lone Tree junior Jovonte Squires racked up a game-best 27 points, and dished out four assists. Junior Niko Gosnell added 10 points.

New London junior Ben Dentlinger recorded a team-high 18 points. The Tigers had three freshmen combine to score 36 points, led by Marcus Porter with 17.

Lone Tree advances to Thursday district championship game, facing off against the Danville Bears of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference South. These two teams met February 12 in Burlington a part of the Southeast Iowa Super Conference Shootout with Danville cruising to a 78-50 victory.
