At Monday’s Mid-Prairie School Board meeting the board accepted the resignation of high school Principal Jim Cayton to take place at the end of the school year. Cayton, who has been with the school for 31 years, will move on to be the principal at Union High School in La Porte City. Cayton says he’s a graduate of Union and decided now was the right time to go home. He adds this was a family decision and he has two daughters going to college at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls.

The board also discussed the Keota School District being willing to share their high school principal on a 50/50 split. The Mid-Prairie board instructed Superintendent Mark Schneider to discuss the split with the Keota School Board and gage their willingness to lower the percentage split with Mid-Prairie. The sharing agreement will be discussed at the next Mid-Prairie School Board meeting on March 14th.
