February is Heart Month, a time to work toward making your heart healthy. Danielle Pettit-Majewski, administrator of Washington County Public Health, shares the leading cause of death in Iowa is heart disease. And of the last 15 years in Washington County, heart disease has been the number one killer of people between the ages of 19 and 64 for 10 years.

Diet and exercise are two things to evaluate when looking at the health of your heart. Pettit-Majewski recommends phasing in healthy habits to make it part of your lifestyle, from taking the stairs to substituting an apple for a candy bar. For more information listen to Monday’s Washington Page.
