The heat and air conditioning system at the Washington Public Library has been a source of issues for some time now taking time and money from the City. Approximately $28,000 has been spent on the system. Debbie Stanton, director of the library, told the City Council this week that work has been done to replace the controller that wasn’t talking to the system and things have improved, but there is still room to improve. She adds she’s spoken with the general manager of the building project from Carl A. Nelson as well as Brockway about the inefficient system. She spoke with them in mid-January and is waiting to hear back about their recommendations.

Council member Kathy Salazar said she wants to see a break down of the costs and recommended speaking with the city attorney about the issue. The council said it was fit to request feedback from the companies by February 19th and move forward from there.

The library was opened to the public on October 1, 2009.
