The Washington boys basketball team showed off their marksmanship Tuesday night at Washington Middle School, beating visiting Mid-Prairie in a rivalry matchup 66-53.

The two teams seesawed back and forth with the lead in the first quarter and into the early part of the second frame. With the Golden Hawks holding an 18-17 lead, Washington went on a 12-2 run fueled by the long ball, the Demons would knock down five of them in the second quarter, six in total in the first half to take a 36-28 lead into the half. Out of the break Mid-Prairie got hot from beyond the arc, starting the third with back to back triples from Nolan Faselt and Derrick Rich to get back within 38-34 but the Demons poured it on behind long range shooting again, knocking down five more three’s in the second half, 11 total for the game and stretched the lead back to 15 and would not be threatened the rest of the way.

The Demons were led by a balanced effort on the night. Derek Anding finished with a game high 20 points, Dalton Myers added 13, Jack Redlinger had 12 points off the bench on four threes and Dakota Suchan had 10 points, including three, three point goals. Mid-Prairie got a big night from center Caleb Statler with 16 points and 11 rebounds, Nolan Faselt added 10 points. With the win, Washington improves to 7-12 on the year while Mid-Prairie falls to 1-19.
