A spring break trip to the state of Florida rendered a .500 record for the Cornell College Rams baseball team (3-3 overall). The six game series in the Sunshine State concluded Wednesday and Thursday with single games versus a pair of teams for southern Iowa.

Lone Tree graduate Andy Dodson took the mound for the Rams Wednesday against Iowa Wesleyan University. The junior tossed seven innings, scattering six hits and allowing one run in a 2-1 victory over the Tigers. The win improves Dodson’s pitching record to 1-0. The Rams scored their only runs in the bottom of the first inning, scoring a pair of runs on one hit.

In their Florida finale, the Central College Dutch jumped on the Rams for two first inning runs, adding five additional runs in the sixth through eighth innings for a 7-2 victory over Cornell. The Rams pitching staff allowed 12 hits and committed three errors in the setback. Washington 2012 graduates T.J Rausch and Jared Henry put their imprints on the game. Rausch had one of the six Ram’s hits on Thursday, scoring the first run of the game in the fifth inning after reaching base on a walk. After allowing five runs in three innings, Henry took the mound for the ninth inning, throwing a scoreless final inning.

The Rams return to Mount Vernon with a 3-3 overall record. Cornell baseball returns to the diamond next Saturday in Wheaton, Illinois, competing in a neutral site game versus St Mary’s at 11 a.m. and a road contests against Wheaton at 2 p.m.
