Lone tree’s Paige Doehrmann isn’t shy about the expectations she has for herself this track season. The Lady Lion senior has had plenty of success over the course of her high school career, qualifying for the state track meet in seven events during her first three years.

Doehrmann was announced as this week’s Hedge Above Lawncare Athlete of the Week on yesterday’s PM Sports Page. She was the only athlete from the listening area to qualify for the finals of the 60 meter dash at Saturday’s Central College Indoor Meet. Her finals time of 8.36 seconds was the 10th best finish among the 214 person field. She credited her time on a different approach out of the blocks as the reason for her top 10 performance over the weekend.

Doehrmann returns this spring as one of the best quarter mile runners in the area, qualifying for the Class 1A state meet in the 400 meter dash each of her first three seasons. She finished in 15th place each of the last two seasons after crossing the finish line in 18th place her freshman season. She’s also been a member of the Lady Lions 4×100 meter relay team which has made the state meet the last three seasons also. Not only would Doehrmann like to return to state in both events, but she’d also like to place better than she did in year’s past.

The Lady Lions track team returns to competition next Tuesday, competing in the Belle Plaine Invitational Track Meet.
