The No. 14 ranked Mid-Prairie girls basketball team will be in action Tuesday in the class 3A state tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines.

The Golden Hawks advanced to state by beating South Tama 50-45 in Oskaloosa on February 20th. Mid-Prairie was led in the game by Addison Rath and her 15 points. Ireland Hostetler had 13 and Ali Butters added 10. On the season the Golden Hawks are led by Butters and Addison Rath, each averaging 12 points per game, seventh best in the River Valley Conference. Alex Rath has 72 assists on the year to lead Mid-Prairie, second best in the River Valley Conference while Addison Rath leads the Golden Hawks with 117 rebounds 10th best in the conference this season. Mid-Prairie enters play at 16-8 overall, the Golden Hawks were 11-7 in the River Valley South, finishing in fourth place. This is the seventh all-time trip to state for the Golden Hawks, their first since 2013.

Mid-Prairie is opposed in today’s state quarterfinal by the No. 2 ranked Center Point-Urbana Stormin’ Pointers. CPU enters today’s game with an overall record of 23-1, the Stormin’ Pointers were champions of the WAMAC Conference with a 13-1 record. CPU advanced to the state tournament by beating Cascade 59-39 Saturday, February 20th in Anamosa. The Pointers were led in the game by Arika Wooldrige and her 30 points. On the season Arika Wooldrige and her sister Allison average 17 and 14 points respectively, second and fourth most in the WAMAC Conference. The sisters are also number one and number two in the conference in assists with Allison Wooldridge dishing out 78 on the year and Arika Wooldridge totaling 74. Allison Wooldridge holds the team lead and is third in the conference with 163 rebounds on the year. This is the fifth all-time trip to state for Center Point Urbana, their last coming in 2014.
