A Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate visited Washington recently. Rob Hogg of Cedar Rapids is one of four Democrats seeking the nomination in the June primary. He shared with KCII News he decided to seek this position now, because he feels the country needs to do more to address climate change, clean water and environmental sustainability. He added he’s also running because he feels Congress is not functioning and he wants to make it work again for Americans.

Hogg has served two terms as a State Representative in Iowa and is currently in his third term as a State Senator. The other Democrats seeking the nomination are Patty Judge, Thomas Fiegan, and Bob Krause.

The U.S. Senate seat is currently held by Republican Charles Grassley who has filed to run for reelection. The primary will be held June 7th.
