There have been 18 influenza-associated deaths in Iowa this flu season. According to the Iowa Influenza Surveillance Network’s most recent weekly report, influenza activity is now minimal but widespread in the state. The State Hygienic Laboratory confirmed 18 cases of influenza A and eight cases of influenza B. In the last report, there were 27 influenza-related hospitalizations reported from sentinel hospitals. Of the 1,810 influenza rapid tests nearly 20%, or 360, were positive.
