The Iowa Mennonite boys and girls track teams open the outdoor season Thursday when they travel to Danville.

The IMS girls are coming off of a strong showing in their only indoor meet of the year at Central College last weekend. IMS had 11 events on the day in action including in field events Rubye Ney in the high jump finishing 22nd, Rachel Miller was 24th in the high jump and Emma Beachy was 64 in the shotput. On the track Calli Shaw was 12th in the 400, Avery Blauvelt 15th in the 3000, Rubye Ney 19th in 60m hurdles, while Alyssa Gonzales was 31st in the 1500. Suzanna Yoder was 38th in the 60m dash. In the 200 Mackenzie Gutierrez was 101st. In relay events the 4×400 team of Calli Shaw, Rubye Ney, Alyssa Gonzales and Suzanna Yoder was 19th the 4×200 team of Rachel Miller, Taylor Geyer, Mackenzie Gutierrez and Suzanna Yoder was 29th.

On the boys side IMS has also had just one competition, the indoor meet on the campus of Central College. Highlights for IMS from that Friday  night include Levi Geyer eighth in the 3200m, Drake Brezina 17th in the long jump, Jim Wang 122nd in the 60m dash, and Jim Wang 122nd in the 200m dash.

The field at Thursday’s event includes Danville, Louisa-Muscatine, Winfield-Mt. Union, New London, and Wapello.
