At their most recent meeting the Mid-Prairie School Board and administrators finalized their 2016 Washington County Riverboat Foundation grant Applications.

In a resolution, four projects were presented to the board. The largest proposal is for a Culinary Learning Laboratory at Mid-Prairie High School, which would be part of a larger addition and remodel of the building that would see the office move to the ground floor, increased classroom and teacher space along with a new art room. The grant application for this item is asking for $150,000 of a total project cost of $500,000.

The other three projects include a $70,678.08 grant request of a total project cost of $88,347.60 for a technology grant to change the way students learn with MacBook Air. $38,602 of a total $104,094.53 project cost for installation of a safe surface under the Wellman Elementary playground. $25,000 of a total project cost of $32,060 for an aerobic exercise study, including equipment, that is planned to determine how physical activity is implemented at the start of the school day benefits learning. This resolution and in turn all grant requests were adopted by the board.
