The Mid-Prairie Girls track team began their competition season Thursday night at the Indoor River Valley Conference Championship meet on the campus of Cornell College in Mount Vernon.

Anna Hostetler had a big night for the Golden Hawks, bringing home Mid-Prairie’s two championships on the night and rewriting history. Hostetler won the 1500 with her time of 4:52.58 a new Mid-Prairie school record and breaking the River Valley Conference record in the event by seven seconds. Hostetler also took the championship in the 800, finishing in 2:26.11, beating the previous River Valley Conference record by nearly six seconds.

Other top 10 performances by the Golden Hawks included Ali Butters finishing 10th in the 60m hurdles with her time of 10.60 and the Mid-Prairie 4x200m relay team of Shelby Zahradnek, Emily Cayton, Ali Butters and Alex Rath taking 10th with a time of 2:00.96.

The Golden Hawks open up the outdoor season on Thursday when they travel to Mount Pleasant.
