Eight reports of vehicles going into ditches were received by the Washington County 911 Communications center Thursday. At 11:07 a.m. a vehicle rolled into the ditch on Vine Avenue near Ainsworth, the two occupants were not injured. Less than 10 minutes later, two vehicles were reported in the median on Highway 218.

At 11:23 a.m. a two-vehicle wreck was reported on Highway 1 near West 18th Street on the north side of Washington. One vehicle entered a cornfield and the other came to rest on the road, blocking the road. Washington County Ambulance, Washington Rescue, Washington Police and Washington County Sheriff’s personnel responded to the scene. One person was taken by ambulance to Washington County Hospital and Clinics. Darwin Jones of Kalona and Darryl Ahnemann of Windsor Heights were the drivers of the vehicles involved.
