A recent graduate of Columbus Community Schools has been recognized as one of the best community college basketball players in Iowa. Des Moines Area Community College freshman Kelsey Pretz was named to the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference’s All-Region third team. DMACC Women’s basketball coach Steve Krafcisin was a guest on this week’s PM Sports Page and talked about how changing positions actually led to more playing time for Pretz as a freshman.

The 2015 Wildcat graduate played in all 33 games for the Bears, starting in two-thirds of the contests. Pretz averaged 8.1 points, three rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for the Bears. She scored double-figure points in 11 games, including a season-high 19 points in a 122-63 victory over Little Priest Tribal College on November 10.

The DMACC Lady Bears basketball team saw their season come to an end Saturday in an 83-80 loss to North Iowa Area Community College in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XI championship game in Mason City. The Bears finished their season with a 26-7 overall record. Hear the final installment of this week’s PM Sports Page this afternoon at 1 p.m. or find it On Demand at KCIIRadio.com.
