A third Republican has officially filed papers to be on the June primary ballot for sheriff in Washington County. Chief Deputy Jared Schneider joined the race this week by filing papers with the auditor’s office. The other sheriff candidates include Kirk Bailey and Ken Miller. Jerry Dunbar, the current sheriff, earlier announced plans to retire at the end of the year.

To be a candidate on the June 7th primary for either party, nomination papers and an affidavit of candidacy must be submitted to the Washington County Auditor’s Office by 5 p.m. March 30th.
