Fresh off the best dual season in school history, the Washington Demon wrestling team (32-3 overall) had several athletes represented on this year all-conference squads. The coaches of the Southeast Conference rewarded the league champs with naming 10 wrestlers on the all-conference squad, five on the first team and five on the second team.

Four of the Demons’ five first team selections won 40 or more matches this season including freshman Walker Ikerd (113; 40-9), and juniors Austin Hazelett (138; 43-10), Trey Van Weelden (152; 49-6), and Karlton Skubal (182; 40-9). Washington senior Bryce Rickey (170; 27-15) also earned first team all-conference honors.

Three of the Washington’s five second team are in their first season of varsity wrestling, including Garrett Ikerd (106; 26-8), David Hora (120; 42-17), and Tristan Westphal Edwards (160; 41-12). Junior Kyle Anderson (132; 42-10) and senior Michael Ellingson (145; 40-13) were named to the squad as well.

Anderson, Rickey, Van Weelden and manager Emily Hora represented Washington on the Southeast Conference’s all-academic team.

The Washington wrestling team finished the season 32-3 overall and placed sixth in the Class 2A state dual tournament. The Demons lose Ellingson, Rickey, and Oscar German (220) to graduation.
