Eight search warrants led to three arrests and the seizure of approximately five pounds of methamphetamine and more than $125,000 in cash in rural Henry County early Wednesday. As KCII News reported Wednesday, seven Washington County sheriff’s deputies and a K-9 unit went to the scene and assisted with warrants and made sure the scene was safe. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, in a joint investigation with Mt. Pleasant Police Department and Iowa Department of Narcotics Enforcement, conducted the searches.
According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, 50-year-old Kevin W. Wood of New London was charged with delivery of more than five kilograms of methamphetamine – a class B felony. Fifty-five-year-old John Knapp of rural Danville was charged with possession of precursors, delivery of less than five kilograms of meth and a tax stamp violation. And 53-year-old Renee C. Drew of rural Danville was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia, misdemeanors.
In cooperation with Henry County Sheriff’s Office, the Fairfield Police Department conducted a search Wednesday in the 1100 block of West Grimes for illegal drugs. Fifty-five-year-old Tamie Joann Stephenson was arrested for possession with intent to deliver marijuana, tax stamp, conspiracy to deliver over five grams of meth and keeping a drug house.
The investigation is ongoing and more charges and arrests are possible. Other agencies assisting include the Iowa DOT Enforcement, Iowa DNR, New London Police Department, Winfield Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Keokuk Police Department, and Ft. Madison Police Department.
