The Washington Middle School Jazz “Z” Band placed first in the small class at the SEIBA Jazzfest at West High School in Iowa City. They claimed the top spot out of nine bands from Class 1A, 2A and 3A schools. Also, John Flannery was named outstanding soloist for the day in the small school junior high class. Also, Audrey Wubbena and Stephanie Plants received solo awards. The band is directed by Washington Middle School band director Craig McClenahan.
