The starting five for the Winfield-Mount Union Wolves boys’ basketball team (13-10 overall) changed frequently this season. Several variables, including injuries, forced head coach Brad Doerring to interchange his starting lineup eight times throughout the year. Despite a lack of continuity, the Wolves were able to put together an above .500 record, winning 13 of their 23 games.

The Wolves two first-team all-conference players are the only athletes W-MU had for all 23 games. Seniors Zach Davis and Garret Baker started every game for the Wolves, and each scored over 350 points during the regular season. Davis’s 366 points ranks him fifth in scoring in the SEISC North. Baker finishes the season in the top six in the conference in three statistical categories. His 61 blocks ranks him second in the league, his 189 rebounds are the third most, and his 358 points is the sixth highest amount.

Senior Sam Jennings represented the Wolves on the second team all-conference squad. Jennings, an unanimous first-team all-conference selection last season, had his final basketball season cut short due to injuries. He accumulated 179 points and grabbed 105 rebounds in 12 games, third most on the Wolves’ team in both categories.

Senior Kolt Rossiter and junior Bryce Robinson were the Wolves’ honorable mention all-conference selections.

W-MU finishes the season 13-10 overall, an identical record from last season. The Wolves will lose Baker, Davis, Neil Davis, Kohlton Heinzel, Darren Hunter, Jennings, Rossiter, Ross Vantiger, and Warren Krieger-Coble to graduation.
