The Southeast Conference season resumed Thursday evening for the Washington Demon soccer programs. The Demons welcomed the Fort Madison Bloodhounds to Washington High School for a pair of league games.

The girls’ contest featured two teams in search of their first conference win. Fort Madison (2-6 overall; 1-2 Southeast) had three players score two or more goals, assisting the Bloodhounds to a 8-1 victory. Junior Emily Wolf recorded a hat trick, scoring two of her three goals in the final eight minutes of regulation. Washington’s (0-6 overall; 0-2 Southeast) lone goal came with seconds to go in the second half. A hand ball in the box gave junior Stacy Ramirez a penalty kick, sending the ball into the right corner with five seconds remaining.

The boys’ game saw the Bloodhounds (6-1 overall; 3-0 Southeast) jump out to a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes of game time, winning the first matchup with the Demons (2-4 overall; 0-2 Southeast), 7-2. Fort Madison seniors Braxton Williams and Tristen Dickerson each tallied three goals in the victory. Washington freshman Caleb Suchan scored the Demons first goal on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute. Sophomore Julio Salgado-Hernandez capped off Washington’s scoring with a goal in 63rd minute.

Both Demon soccer teams return to the pitch Monday, hosting the Mount Pleasant Panthers in a pair of Southeast Conference matches at Washington High School.
