Artists across southeast Iowa are beginning plans for the eighth annual Studio Artists’ Tour and a call has been put out for all local artists to consider taking part in the event. Painters, sculptors, jewelry makers and more have been featured in years past. The tour will be held October 15th and 16th in Washington, Henry, Lee, Des Moines and Van Buren counties. The deadline for artist applications to be included in brochures and on the website is next Friday, April 15th.

The participation fee is $50 for both days. An informational session is being held Tuesday at Jumbo Buffet in Mt. Pleasant at 6 p.m. A variety of art will be available for purchase during the self-guided tour.

Also, artists who do not wish to open their studios up for the tour can participate by displaying work at gathering places throughout the area. A gathering place last year was the Blair House which had three artists together.
