At least 40% of Iowa’s anticipated corn acres are now planted, six days ahead of last year and 11 days ahead of the five-year average according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s weekly progress report. In southeast Iowa 52% of corn is planted. Also, at this time pasture conditions across the state are rated 61% good to excellent with pastures green and growing. Topsoil moisture levels are 89% adequate in Iowa and subsoil moisture is 97% adequate to surplus.
