Swirling winds didn’t hinder the offensive attack of the Washington Demon boys’ soccer team (1-1 overall) in their second game of the season Friday afternoon. The Demons made the short trip to rural Riverside, battling the Highland Huskies in a non-conference battle. Washington held Highland off the scoreboard, winning the contest 7-0.

Six Washington players recorded at least one goal in the victory. Sophomore Anthony Torres led the Demons’ scoring attack, drilling two goals into the back of the net. Senior Christian Mejia and freshmen Tristan Westphal-Edwards, Julio Salgado Hernandez, Garrett Ikerd, and Logan Escher all chipped in a goal a piece.

Sophomore Thomas Zimmer posted the second shut out of his career, making seven saves in goal.

Washington improves their record to 1-1 overall. The Demons host the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks (0-2 overall) tomorrow afternoon at Washington High School.

The loss drops the Highland Huskies to 0-3 overall. Highland returns to competition tomorrow, traveling to face the Burlington Notre Dame Nikes (1-2 overall).
