Five meets into the season and the Washington Demon girls’ golf team is still undefeated in match play this spring. Washington’s latest competition took the squad to the Cedar Creek Golf Course in Ottumwa Tuesday for a dual meet against the host Bulldogs. Three of the Demons’ four scoring golfers carded nine hole rounds of 42 strokes or fewer to win the team event, 174-194.

Sophomore Sarah Nacos continues to hold Washington’s lowest scores, posting a one over 37 during the event. Seniors Deanna Peiffer and Brenna Burlingame posted identical scores, finishing with a six over 42. Sophomore Megan Strabala rounded out the scores for Washington, completing her day in 53 strokes.

Washington’s scratch scores included freshman Carly Burlingame with a 58 and sophomore Allison Vogel scoring a 59.

The Demon girls’ golf teams will host back-to-back Southeast Conference triangulars next week at the Washington Golf and Country Club. The first is set for Monday afternoon against the Mount Pleasant Panthers and the Fairfield Trojans. The second is scheduled for Thursday against the Trojans and the Keokuk Chiefs. Tee time is 4 p.m. for both events.
