The final home track meet of the season for the Washington girls’ squad is tonight.The Demons will host the annual Washington Invite tonight at Case Field, welcoming schools from Benton, Clear Creek Amana, Eddyville-Blakesburg, Fort Madison, and Mount Pleasant to compete.

The Washington girls’ track team was last in competition Tuesday in the Panther Relays hosted by Mount Pleasant High School. The Demons finished in ninth place among the 19 team field, scoring 70 points. Junior Jessie Buchholz set a new school record in the 100 meter hurdles competition. Her time of 16.73 seconds was the third fastest time in the meet, and broke Regan Enfield’s five year record by two-tenths of a second set back in 2011 .

The Washington Invite will begin at 4:30 p.m. with the field events and running events start at 5 p.m. at Case Field in Washington. Listen to tomorrow’s sports page for results.
