A program to teach area students about finances and making decisions in life is being held next week and more volunteers are needed. The annual Financial Literacy Fair for area eighth grade students is being held, as the students have been learning about finances and doing career exploration in class. Cheryl Valenta with the Workplace Learning Connection explains the fair has students stop at 11 different booths that represent major decisions in life, like buying house or getting student loans and there is also a “wheel of reality” where students may encounter an unforeseen expense or come upon extra income.

Valenta adds more adult volunteers are needed for the program. The Financial Literacy Fair will be held Wednesday from 8:15 a.m. to 11:50 a.m. at the Parkside Activities Center in Wellman. Students from Washington, Highland and Mid-Prairie school districts will attend. To sign up to volunteer click here.
