Five people have filed to be candidates for the U.S. Senate, one of which is incumbent Senator Charles Grassley. Grassley has served in the U.S. Senate since 1980 and is the only Republican to file. On the Democratic side, four candidates will vie for the nomination in June, they are Rob Hogg, Thomas Fiegen, Patty Judge and Bob Krause.

Hogg, a state senator, recently had an event at the Mills Seed Building in downtown Washington. He stopped by KCII and shared he decided to run now because he feels Congress is broken and he wants to help fix it. He’s also an advocate for clean water and environmental sustainability. He is in his third term in the state senate and also served two terms in the state house.

Listen to Thursday and Friday’s Washington Pages on KCII for the full conversation with Hogg.
