A student from Highland High School and a student from Mid-Prairie High School were selected as the winners of this year’s Dean Gerot Memorial Conservation Scholarship. The scholarship comes from the Washington Soil and Water Conservation District and the winners were selected from applicants from across the county. Keiffer Sexton of Ainsworth and Noah Altenhofen of Wellman were each awarded a $1,000 scholarship, which is presented to students who are furthering their education in fields of agriculture or natural resources.

Altenhofen plans to attend Iowa State University to pursue a degree in agricultural studies.

Sexton will attend Western Illinois University to pursue an animal science degree and his application was forwarded onto regional and state competition.
