Last week the Compassion Club at Iowa Mennonite School helped package meals for the”Kids Against Hunger” Campaign. The group put together 2,160 meals in 10 boxes of 36 bags apiece that will be sent to an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya. Each bag in the parcels consists of a blend of dehydrated vegetables, soy, vitamins, minerals and rice. Only boiling water is required for preparation. Ellis and Marcia Miller of Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church are also locally involved with this national organization. The Millers have a mobile unit that brings the assembly line to local churches, schools or community events. Their goal is to contribute 100,000 meals this year.
