After suffering through several consecutive close losses in recent games the Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer team put together a quality week going 2-0 in a pair of contests.

In their first game of the week IMS outlasted Burlington Notre Dame 3-2 in overtime. IMS got on the board in the sixth minute when Jacob Schmeider sent a ball into the box for Nick Hwang who found the back of the net to make it 1-0 IMS. After a Notre Dame equalizer it was IMS who strike next with Anthony Villatoro blasting a shot past the keeper from the corner of the 18, making it 2-1 Iowa Mennonite going to the break. In the second half, Notre Dame tied the game again, scoring in the 49th minute. Regulation ended with the two teams still tied at two, as did the first overtime. In the second extra period IMS netted the game winner as Villatoro snuck a header past the Notre Dame keeper.

On Thursday night IMS rolled to a 5-1 win over visiting Mediapolis. Nick Yutzy started the scoring for Iowa Mennonite with his tally in the 17th minute. IMS turned up the heat with the early lead and got a header goal from Gerardo Mendoza minutes later to double their lead. It was 3-0 IMS when Isaiah Swantz got into the act, scoring on a corner kick assist from Anthony Villatoro. IMS finished the first half scoring when Mendoza sent a shot home for the second time on the night, leaving the score 4-0 IMS at the break. The final goal of the night came late on a Mediapolis own goal. With the pair of wins IMS Is now 3-4 on the year and 3-2 in conference play. IMS matches up with the Wapello Indians on Monday.
