Under an ordinance passed last August the city of Keota is continuing their alternative traffic enforcement. In his latest report to the Keota City Council, Keota City Police Officer Doug Conrad reported five recent citations issued under the city’s code. Tickets issued under this ordinance are under city jurisdiction and for the amount of the infraction only. They do not include court costs, they do not go on the individual’s driving record and must be paid to the city within 30 days of the citation.

City Clerk of Keota Niki Osweiler says that since the ordinance was enacted last August through March 25th, 2016, Conrad has issued 18 total citations. A speeding violation under this ordinance costs $40. This program will remain active until the council decides to repeal the ordinance.
