Entering the season, a goal of the Lone Tree Lady Lion track team was to win their home meet. The Lions held their co-ed track meet Monday evening, and teams from Highland, the Iowa Mennonite School, Keota, Lone Tree, New London, Sigourney, Tri-County, WACO, and Wapello all competed in the girls’ field. The Lady Lions achieved their goal, winning the Lone Tree Invitational with 134 points. New London came in second place with 121 points, while Highland placed third with 119 points.

The Lady Lions posted top two finishes in eight events. Sophomore Sydney Alt took first place honors in the 3000 meter run, clocking a time of 13:46.04. The other first place finish came from Lone Tree’s 4×100 meter relay team. The crew of Chloe Jacque, Elena Sieverding, Emily Feldman, and Paige Doehrmann posted a time of 54.24 seconds, a full second and a half better than the field.

Lone Tree had second place finishes in the 800 sprint medley, the 4×800 meter relay, the shot put, the 1500 meter run, the 800 meter run, and the 100 meter dash.

This marks the second meet won by the Lady Lion track team this season. Lone Tree took home the Belle Plaine Invitational championship on March 29.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Lady Lions as they are back in competition this afternoon, competing in North Cedar High School’s annual meet.
