At their most recent meeting of the Mid-Prairie School Board, Mid-Prairie elementary school principals Bill Poock and Teresa Beenblossom gave a presentation regarding the elementary literacy program in the district.

Mid-Prairie Superintendent Mark Schneider says that they shared information about the program, software that is used and heard from a teacher that uses the program in the district. Third grade literacy is an important measurement standard for education in the state of Iowa in relation to program effectiveness.  Mid-Prairie’s most recent scores place their third grade students in the top 4% in the state for literacy levels. Schneider stressed not only the success of the program in the classroom but also the work that students do in their own time at home to improve their reading skills.
