Less than 48 hours after finishing a marathon game with one rival, the Washington Demon boys’ soccer team (1-3 overall; 0-1 Southeast) opened their conference season against another. The Fairfield Trojans (2-1 overall; 2-0 Southeast) made the trip to Washington High School for the first of two league battles on the pitch. Fairfield connected on seven second half goals on their way to a 9-0 victory.

Senior Solomon Constant scored the first four goals of the game, a pair in each half, to pace the Trojan offense. Junior Brayden Miller scored two goals in a span of four minutes in the victory.

Sophomore goalkeeper Thomas Zimmer made 11 saves for the Demons in the setback. Washington battled for over 100 minutes and lost in sudden death penalty kicks Tuesday evening versus the Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks.

The loss drops Washington to 1-3 overall and 0-1 in Southeast Conference play. The Demons return to competition next week, traveling to Mediapolis for a non-conference clash versus the Bulldogs (1-6 overall).
